Jotunheimen
Jotunheimen, the home of the giants, is one of those places that should be on the bucket list of those who love the outdoor life. It offers stunning views, easy and challenging hikes, and great opportunities for (guided) glacier crossings, cave explorations and rock climbing. Oh, and if you want, you can pitch a tent almost anywhere you want. When I was there, I found that the trails were well maintained and marked by the Norwegian Trekking Association (DNT). The organization also operates a lot of cabins in the park varying from self-service cabins to fully staffed lodges, so if you want a meal and dry place to sleep at night, it's right there where you need it.It is wise to prepare for bad weather, though. During our three-day hike at the end of July, we experienced sun, rain, and temperatures ranging from as high as 15 degrees Celsius to temperatures as low as 1 degree Celsius. As always in the mountains, the weather can change in the blink of an eye, too. Luckily, we were prepared so we didn't have to shiver in our tent. Fellow hikers reported that it snowed higher up near the top of the Fannaråk. So, mid-summer is no guarantee for good weather. However, despite a bit of bad weather, the park offered us one of the greatest outdoor experiences we've had so far in our life. We are certainly going back one day, so I would certainly recommend to anyone who loves such a thing.

Jotunheimen
Incredible views and a very variating nature. The more tourist-popular places were very crowded, however if you walk along the trails, there are parts where you will see almost no one!

Norsk natur på sitt beste. Kan ikke beskrives, men må helt enkelt oppleves.

Beautiful area. The Norwegians are very welcoming and helpful. The terrain is rough though (lots of elevation and extremely rocky), so be prepared for that. I usually hike 30 km per day, but here I do 15 km max per day. So tough terrain, but very beautiful.

The national park is perfect if you love to hike mountains. The park has several peaks that is over 2000m which can be hiked. And many of them are have a trail to the top. Ut.no is a website where you can find different hiking options in Jotunheimen NP.

God tur!

Jotunheimen
An absolutely beautiful national park which is great, although sometimes challenging, for hiking and camping. The hours shown on maps are for lighter backpacks so plan for longer hikes with heavier pack. Requires some fitness and experience I'd say. Favorite parts of our 7 1/2-day hike was Gjendebu to Memurubu (even though Bukkelægret" was a challenge) and of course Besseggen."
