While making holiday in the Sognefjord area you should make a visit to the Bautasteine near Leikanger.These Standing Stones are relicts of ancient times. Positioned by the Vikings.Three Bautasteine are near the Village of Leikanger. Among them there is the biggest Bautastein of Norway. It is called the Baldersteinen and is about 8 metres in hight.

One of the largest menhirs in Norways standing on an Iron age burial ground. It is said to commemorate someone though no longer remembered who. Large, simple, ancient, great to still have such a thing standing. The surrounding houses and a broken car and parts nearby kind of make it lose its charm though.
