Håholmen - by Classic Norway Hotels

Fantastic location. My July 4th 1 night visit included thunder, lightening, heavy rainfall. For 20 minutes. Sunshine, stillness peace and birdsong (Oyster Catchers, gulls +). For many hours! Watching the herons, ducks and flock of small birds swooping (Duns?) was a real joy. I could cloud watch for hours too, rainbows, mountain tops obscured by black clouds or danced around by white cloud.There is one restaurant on the island, dinner was a set meal. It was delicious.I learned about Ragnar Thorseth - adventurer, author and owner of the island hotel. People we're kayaking, the water was so clear - I wanted to swim, but it was near to ice cold when I put my foot in it.Free parking and boat transfer included in the stay cost.My room/cabin was small, modern, clean with a wonderful power shower, plenty of sockets, and WiFi (island-wide). When I first opened the door it was like stepping into a sauna. No air conditioning. I opened the windows. No Mosquito'sNO MOSQUITOS!!!!!!and slept with the window open all night - a real luxury, in NYC (my current home town) I have to keep the windows closed to keep the cool air in.The staff were doing thier job. It must be so tough being in the tourist trade now. They weren't obsequious (thank heavens) or invisible... .. or really remarkable in any way.I'll definitely come back when my US holiday ration and bank account allow it. Maybe bring a sketch book for the views, or a better camera and a good book Incase it rains more...

Nydelig sted på en liten øy! Det er et reiselivsanlegg med overnatting og restaurant, men vi var der bare noen timer en ettermiddag for å oppleve stedet. Masse gamle restaurerte bygg. Virkelig verdt turen!

Just had dinner. Terrible slow service, and the food was quite ordinary. Find another place to eat. But the view is amazing.

Absolutely recommended to anyone looking for a quiet place, away from busy city life. If you're lucky with the weather, this is a really stunning place to be. If you're here for more than one night, remember to bring something to read, otherwise you can spend the day just looking at the sea (which is pleasant enough). The food quality in the restaurant is absolutely excellent. The staff (at least when we visited) were a bit unexperienced, and that led to some difficulties with the table reservations. The wine knowledge among the staff is not top notch, and could easily have been improved. My favourite restaurants is the one where the staff knows why one particular wine is good with one particular type of food. But hey, you're on a small island, so let not this worry you. Have a go, and taste (and enjoy) for yourself. Remember to check the boat schedule since this is an island, and you must park on mainland. The boat is free of charge for hotel guests.

Bra fordi stedet er annerledes og beliggenhet flott. Velholdt. Ellers kjedelig! Kun en mulighet for middag- 3 retter er ikke alltid det en ønsker. Håper å få omvisning med historie - se filmen om Thorseth… ingen tilbud! Det ble sagt det ikke skulle være Tv /radio for å nyte naturen. I 20 m/s vind var nytelsen veldig begrenset….

En kulinarisk opplevelse- anbefales på der sterkeste - hyggelig betjening

Vel verd et besøk. God mat. Viner var det heller dårlig utvalg i. Mest rimelige. Transport ut var i fiskeskøyte, tilbake i lukket båt som kun tok 8 passasjerer. Dvs at det ble lang kø og over 40 min forsinkelse for enkelte ved utsjekk. Hadde været vært bedre kunne de brukt vikingskipet og fått med seg alle. Transport til og fra er inkludert i overnatting. Vi hadde historisk rom som vi var veldig fornøyd med. Lange personer vil nok finne sengene litt korte. Badet er moderne.

Marvellous, really beautiful surroundings. The arrival is special already, you have to park your car on the mainland and are taken by a traditional viking boat. The hotel is spread across several small buildings, very cosy, clean and designed with care. The staff is engaged and seem to like their work and it shows. The food is outstanding. I would recommend it.
