Grand Hotel

Not a positive experience. This is definitely not a 5-star hotel, rather a 3-star hotel. Location is good, and property itself is ok. But service is rather lacking.- Had to call 3 times to understand if early check-in or check-out is possible. A 5-star hotel takes your request, and contacts you, not tell you to call back again.- Grand cafe service was slow, inconsistent and again, had to be asked 3 times to get something.- Staying in a junior suite, but closet door stays 3-4 centimeters open because the hangers are too big! Really? Nobody checked this?- Spa was closed, and all the explanation they could provide was probably someone overslept"!- Bar on the roof takes no reservations after 7pm

Great location. Very good breakfast. Comfortable bed. The pool and sauna/steam room is open to guests for a fee, which is usually complimentary in other 5-start hotels.

This was a mixed impressions stay...We stayed for 2 nights in a superior plus" room (#687 or maybe 678). It is a bit bigger room sitting at a corner of one of internal atriums (don't expect a window view in this hotel if it was not advertised for your room!).The main king bed was fine. There was some extra furniture - it was also fine.The "sofa bed"was unfortunately a nightmare - it was squeaking every time you turn. Luckily our kid is an easy sleeper and it was not an issue for him

Besøkte 8 floor bar, med venner. tok litt tid for å bestille drinker. Påpekte at det var groms i rødvin bestilt da vi gikk, fikk ikke noe reduksjon eller beklagelse fra betjening. Grei utsikt fra terrasse men vi har ikke planer om å komme tilbake.

Not a 5 star hotel.Our 3 night stay in the penthouse suite was a nightmare. After a cold night, we informed the staff that the heater in the room was not working. They said they would have it fixed right away. After coming back from a day of sightseeing, the front desk told us “it’s being taken care of”. A technician never came and the heater was never fixed. We asked the staff many more times and by 11PM we were informed that there was a technical issue with the heating in that room and that we had to change rooms. Oslo is a very cold city and you would expect any hotel to have basic heating. That night we slept with extra blankets. The property is old and poorly maintained, which is probably why the room was faulty.The hotel breakfast was mediocre. The only good thing about the hotel was the location which is within walking distance from most of the sites in Oslo.Nevertheless, no hotel should sell a room that has technical issues, especially since they advertise temperature control. Clearly the hotel does not inspect its rooms before they rent them to guests. Furthermore, the way the staff handled it was very unprofessional. The front desk lady should not have lied. Apologizing and asking us to switch rooms in the middle of the night was inappropriate.They advertise themselves as 5 star however, with this caliber of service, and faulty rooms and rotting building, Grand hotel Oslo is a two star hotel at best.

Kjempefint og rent rom. Fantastisk sentral beliggenhet. Vidunderlig frokost. På vårt rom hadde vi ingen fin utsikt, alt annet var topp. Må bare nevne frokosten igjen, enormt utvalg, kjempefin opplevelse. Anbefales på det varmeste.

I was very excited to visit, particularly after seeing how beautiful the entrance lobby/bar is.Unfortunately, the rooms are outdated and in need of some maintenance. My room had coffee stains on the carpet. The hotel hallways were also not cleaned to a particularly high standard. My room was changed and reception told me my belongings would be moved ready for when I return from a walk - they didn't do this.When checking in I was told the rooftop bar opens at 5pm. I went at 5pm to be told there is an event so I would have to pay to enter - I've not encountered this at any 5 star hotel and it's annoying considering I'd already paid to stay.Visit the great lobby bar for a drink but stay in a hotel elsewhere.

Vi var bare innom for å ta en drink / øl i baren men ble ikke tatt godt i mot å vi kunne ikke sette oss ned selvom det var ledige bord der, mulig han bare hadde en dårlig dag på jobben men vi gikk derfra iallefall.

Centrally located, near to all major sites, neighborhoods and train station and restaurants. overall it’s decent property but it does need some attention towards bedding in each room. mattress were so soft and pillows were not even pillows, it was bunch of feathers in the bag that soft it was. definitely needs some upgrading in bathroom where plastic shielding the water from shower is so small that it leaks the water out in sink area. Reception staff and Bell boys were very helpful. Friendly and courteous staff with convenient location.

Vi bestilte afternoon tea på Grand, siden de fikk så mye skryt av sin afternoon tea i Vink (februar 2023), så vi ønsket å utforske dette (april 23). Vi fikk bord på Palmen. Sofaen jeg skulle sitte i var full med smuler fra tidligere gjester, faktisk veldig mye, så jeg måtte virkelig feie med hendene for å kunne sitte nogen lunde rent. Vi behøvde ikke å vente lenge på teen. 4 små firkantete scones (4x4 cm), fordelt på 2 personer, det smakte veldig godt med pære syltetøy og clotted cream. Savnet rørt jordbærsyltetøy. Så til sandwichene, de var tørre! Sandwichene måtte ha vært lagret over lengre tid for brødet var tørt på utsiden. Det smakte ikke særlig godt, jeg smakte derfor bare en liten bit av hver. Quich’en var veldig god! Søtsakene på toppen; en grønn firkant smakte kun søtt, men kokos, mango og pasjonsfrukt moussen var supergod, vi måtte bestille noen ekstra for de var små smakseksplosjoner og minneverdige. Operakaken var smakløs, kunne minne om en dårlig bløtkake. Miniterten med solbærkrem var ikke god. Størrelsene på scones og små biter av sandwichene til tross; jeg ble mett, så porsjonsstørrelsene er nok riktig beregnet. Litt lite scones syns jeg, da jeg helst ville spise mer av dem i stedenfor sandwichene, så; mer scones og mindre sandwich! Vi hadde ikke bestilt afternoon tea til tredjemann, men da vi fikk høre at de hadde både gluten og laktosefritt, var vi ikke sene om å be om det. Samme erfaring med sandwichene her også - tørt. Makronen på toppen smakte brød(!), ellers var resten av maten her helt ok.Så var jeg så uheldig å gå på toalettet i foajeen, den er ikke til å skryte av, lite avlukke, knapt plass til knærne, selve toalettet var rent, men støv og skitt, særlig på gulvet. Rengjøringen på toalettet denne dagen var ikke til å skryte av, det gir et negativt helhetsinntrykk.Alt i alt litt skuffende opplevelse, det er jo Grand! Kr 545 per pers. for afternoon tea, dette er ikke verdt prisen, dessverre. Kan hende de fikk bra i Vink, men nivået har sunket siden de fikk anbefalingen den gang. Vi takker for oss og kommer ikke igjen for te, i alle fall. En viktig ting; vi fikk de ekstra søte mango mousse’ene helt gratis og det var jo flott, servicen er det ingenting å utsette på.
