Start of Stegastein hike

Accurate. Take the bridge at the beginning, then the trail is easy to follow. Rather steep (around 700m positive slope), quite challenging if you're not used to hiking.

The hike is 100% worth it. You will get very close to the water fall in the beginning (and a bit wet :-)) and in most parts have a wonderful view over the valley. The best part is: the peak / destination on top of the mountain which will give you an amazing view over the fjord. The trail is narrow and when rainy/wet not easy. You need good stamina, 2h time to get on top (2h back as well) and it is quite humid in the forest part (first 3-4km). In total a bit over 700m ascent and only 3-4 parking spaces right at the main road of the valley (but more a bit closer to Aurlandsvangen a couple of minutes away from the start).

This hiking trail has some challenging aspects to it such as the steep/slippery slopes and would only recommend it for experienced hikers. It becomes more challenging as you progress but less experienced and in shape hikers should be fine for about 1hr which will take you far enough for great pictures and a nice view of the area. You will not be disappointed with this trail no matter what your hiking experience level is - just be careful of where you step and you will be fine.

This hike is pretty hidden, and even once you're on it, it can be easy to lose. Getting to the waterfall is easy enough and rewarding on its own.I didn't make it to the top (I got lost and started following a goat trail by accident) but the sign said it goes to Mt Prest, not Stegastein, so be aware.

Alors je ne sais pas si je suis vraiment nulle en rando mais impossible de comprendre par où il faut aller dès le début. J’ai dû me tromper en commençant vers la gauche au lieu de commencer vers la droite mais finalement j’ai repris la route !En revanche la randonnée qui commence plus loin, dans le quartier residentiel d’aurland et vraiment bien mais très dure.
