Kristiansand International School

This school traumatized and destroyed my mental health. The learning environment was inadequate because teachers treated students differently based on their race. The teachers were also quite unprofessional and allowed their emotions to prevent them from doing their jobs. Even though it is an IB school, I did not receive a high-quality education; thus, it should not be classified as an IB school. The students had to play on a basketball court cage since there is no football field at the school. The school was also exceedingly unsanitary, since the corridors and classrooms often smelled of rotting milk and dying fish. In addition, the tap water was very unpleasant and undrinkable, and many children were ill due to the presence of salmonella in the water, preventing students from filling their water bottles at school. I would not advise enrolling your child to this school since it will traumatize them.

This school is great. The teachers are polite and respectful for all students. There is lots of activities that are really educational but in a genuinely fun way. There is also a positive learning environment and the teachers usually know the students really well. Of course, sometimes it can be stressful, but that barely happens! Fantastic school!

This an unacceptable environment for students to learn academically. I have encountered a white female teacher here that is comfortable with saying the N-slur just because she is from “America”, and she’s “allowed to say it.” She has also stated that it’s “apart of history”, but continues to use it despite derogatory and racist nature behind the slur. I am concerned due to the fact there are children learning under a person who comfortably uses a slur; during a time where a child should be academically learning.I do not recommend any parent sending their child here. Please look for a school more suitable and competent for you child’s education.

Нормальная в целом школа. Но слишком большая оборачиваемость учащихся, от чего преподаватели не сильно выкладываются. Если знаешь английский или немецкий языки то выучить норвежский будет проще.

The school is fun. You get lots of trips. There are nice teachers there. The school environment is safe and happy. There are happy and polite people. There are hard and stressful times at school, but that's normal.

As a teacher at this school I am of course bias. However I experience a school full of a diverse group of staff and students. No school will be perfect for everyone but every day I hear laughter, I witness dedicated teachers teaching, I see students trying their best producing exceptional work and growing to become wonderful adults. School, like life, is what you make it. If you want a great school then contribute a great attitude.

As a former parent whose child attended ‘Kristiansand International School’ I was very disappointed with the experience. I was appalled to the insufficiency of supportive and respectful teachers. There have been multiple recalls where teachers have been late to class and not prepared for the lesson. Numerous teachers lack with respect, and play favourites to some students while others not. There is often a substitute teacher in most subject due to the lack of teachers being in at work, there has even been times when my child’s class has been left alone without supervision of a teacher or a substitute. This results in valuable school hours waisted. A learning environment should be a safe and enjoyable place for students to learn and expand their knowledge, ‘Kristiansand International School’ does not reach up to these expectations.

Excellent school, despite the fact that most of its teachers have returned to the USA because of the corona pandemic. We hope that everything gets back to normal eventually.
